Teulu Tefeca - Celebrating 250 Years

Publicity

From the URC - Holidays 2002 Website

Coleg Trefeca, near Brecon, has emerged from the scaffolding with which it has been surrounded for over a year, refurbished for the 21st century. Trefeca was home to the first Methodist, Howell Harris, who in 1752 established a Christian 'family' (Teulu Trefeca). He built the current building to house the 130 members. He placed on top the golden figure of an angel blowing a trumpet announcing the impending judgment of God. The angel has now been restored.

The highlight of the 2002 programme will be the 250th anniversary celebration. Local schools will put on a musical linking Harris's family and the family of today. This forms part of a Pentecost celebration (17th - 19th May) to be hosted by the 130 members of today's Teulu Trefeca - a dispersed community sharing common prayer and a love for Trefeca and what it represents in Christian life in Wales.
